This week, we interviewed Jay Reno from Feather.
Let us get to it!
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m the founder and CEO of Feather, a corporation that is redefining furnishings rental for the modern-day technology. In 2017, I released Feather as an obtainable, design-forward and high-quality substitute to the growing issue of fast home furnishings.
As someone who moved nine occasions in 10 yrs, I noticed the need to provide increased flexibility and versatility to a new technology of renters who are going often, switching employment and metropolitan areas, and not committing to extensive-time period living scenarios.
I’m an alum of Y Combinator’s accelerator plan. I have a Bachelor’s diploma in Business Administration from Elon College and a Master’s degree from Columbia University, in which I researched climate and environmental science.
What dilemma does your solution/support clear up?
There are 3 critical problems that Feather solves for both our residential and business clients:
The very first is having far too considerably baggage when it’s time for a change— no matter whether that is shifting cities or shifting offices. There are not a lot of household furniture alternatives that are practical for the way we reside and do the job right now. Feather aims to give larger flexibility to a new technology by using the head aches out of furnishing a house. On move-in working day, our white-glove provider will deal with all the supply, assembly and cleanup, which indicates the client does not have to lift a finger.
The second trouble is home furniture waste. With 19.6 billion lbs added yearly to landfills, furniture presently accounts for about 7% of all landfill waste. As there are few considerate, sustainable alternatives for flexible household furniture, most individuals and firms resort to “fast furniture” that’s cheap and disposable immediately after a calendar year or two. With our convenient options for rental, retail, and delivery with quality solutions built to final, Feather is ready to battle home furniture waste that will come with relocating.

Considering the fact that March 2020, 69% of businesses in the U.S. have forever shut some or all of their workplace spaces, and virtually every business has faced prolonged closures and decreased staff members in the place of work. This, coupled with the continued uncertainty of the pandemic, has led to a growing want for additional overall flexibility and independence in their in-person business spaces. Feather’s partnership with WeWork allows WeWork users to very easily layout their place of work areas with our rental furnishings, without the dedication and expense that will come with regular place of work setting up leasing and furnishing.
